James Pickersgill

I grew up in Barnstaple, North Devon with my parents, my older brother and my grandparents. Sport was a major factor in my young life – pretty much anything with a ball!

I met my wife Catherine while she was training to be a nurse and I was studying Business Administration. During my first job at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, I attended an Alpha course at HTB and at the age of 22, all the pieces of my spiritual searching came together and I made a commitment to follow Jesus – a life-changing moment.

After marrying and a back-packing trip, we moved to Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire where I continued to work in Hospitality and we were part of Holy Trinity Church. During this time, our three beautiful children were born.

Whilst working at my ‘dream job’ at Gloucester Rugby Club overseeing the Hospitality & Catering, I sensed a call to ordained ministry and with the help of many others along the way, we moved to Bristol in 2011 for study at Trinity College.

I was delighted to start a curacy in Winchcombe in June 2013 and as a family, we have felt very supported and cared for in this loving community. It has been an interesting journey, full of surprises along the way, including a year-long vacancy during 2015. We look forward with anticipation and eagerness, and a bit of trepidation, to all that God has in store for us in the future.
